My Approach Towards Conspiracies

I recently had an exchange with a friend named Johnny on a discussion board devoted to End Times prophecy and we exchanged thoughts on conspiracies and the following is what I shared with him regarding an organization that is a favorite for fodder among conspiracy enthusiasts, the Trilateral Commission:

It's funny that you mentioned the Trilateral Commission. Several years ago, I saw a reporter interview a member of the Trilateral Commission and he asked him about the supposed sinister motives of this group. This man told the reporter that the most challenging part of being a member of the Trilateral Commission is staying awake during its very boring meetings.


Here is a good example of how I deal with conspiracies:

In about 1981, before a staff conference in the office where I used to work, the project engineer named Mike told the 5 of us about some ominous things that he was reading about the Trilateral Commission. Mike told us that this Trilateral Commission had the aim and goal of nothing less than world domination and the breakup of the basic family unit.

A heavy pall hung over the office as Mike spoke in a very somber tone.

After Mike finished speaking, I inquired, "I wonder if you can buy stock in that company."

Harry's hand shot up in the back of the room and Harry shouted, "Yes! We're selling some back here!!!" which led to everyone but Mike laughing riotously.
